Work Study

Work study offers an opportunity for students to seek employment while completing their studies at the University of Toronto. Students who participate in work study develop skills and experience valued by professionals and potential future employers. The program offers flexibility, leadership and opportunities to network throughout the University of Toronto.

Work Study Program Dates

2019 Summer Work Study will run from the first day of classes until August 9, 2019.

Hours and Rate of Pay

Work Study students are permitted to work a maximum of 15 hours per week and a maximum 100 hours total for the Summer Work Study Session.

Work Study students are paid minimum wage, currently $14.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.

Work Study students are paid bi-weekly unless previously or concurrently employed by the University in a monthly paid position whereby they will remain on a monthly payroll schedule.

All Work Study hours must be documented on a time-sheet and students and employers must complete and sign the time-sheets before submitting the forms to the payroll officer.

To learn more about positions and qualifications for each position, current and incoming UofT students can find the jobs on the CLNx (CLN.utoronto.ca).  Login with your UTORID then click Jobs → Work Study. Instructions for applying positions are also located in each position’s posting.

Please ensure that when you apply to positions that you have a tailored resume and cover letter (the Career Centre can help with this!)

2019 Summer Work Study Eligibility

·         The Summer Work Study is open to domestic undergraduate and graduate degree students studying on a full time or part time basis (i.e., registered in at least 1.0 credits) and International undergraduate and graduate students studying on a full time basis, continuously from May to August 2019. International students studying on a part time basis are NOT eligible to work on Campus – please see the Government of Canada website for rules and regulations.

·         You are permitted to accept ONE Work Study position per program period.

·         You do NOT have to be OSAP eligible to apply for Work Study positions.

·         Non-degree students are not eligible for Work Study

Important note: Please note that the CLNx will be undergoing upgrading to improve interface, be mobile friendly and easier for students to search job postings!

As such, the CLNx will be OFFLINE between April 22 – April 29.  You will not be able to log-in to CLNx during this period.
